KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Dobyns-Bennett High School football program was awarded the Region 1 6A Ralph Stout Sportsmanship Award by the Region 1 Officials Association at their annual banquet on Monday, November 6, 2017.  The award recognizes the highest rated school in each Region 1 conference, as judged by football game officials over the course of the 2017 season. This is the second year in a row that Dobyns-Bennett has won this award.

“Dobyns-Bennett holds a rich history of success on the football field, but we are equally pleased and honored by the legacy of sportsmanship exhibited by our students and coaches,” said Dobyns-Bennett Athletic Director Larry Shively.  “To be recognized in this way by the officials that work with our staff and students each Friday night is a reflection of the culture of respect and competition we seek to instill in our students.”

Named for local Hall of Fame official Ralph Stout, the annual award is given to the high school in each Region 1 conference that receives the highest sportsmanship ratings during the year.  The Region 1 Football Association provides game officials for all public high school football games in Northeast Tennessee.
